PTC Creo Working Domains
In this post we will see what is the extent with which PTC Creo can help designers and engineers model real things in a Virtual World, things that will be covered in this post include:
PTC Creo works on a very wide variety of domains, generally Creo is by heart a 3D design software so, anything that is 3-Dimensional or can be represented in three dimensions, can be modelled in Creo.
This advantage gives the software near reach to all that is present (cannot still model water, dust etc.) in the world. One will get an idea about the scope of Creo when we try to make a new file in Creo Parametric software.
So, to open a New File, we will be using The Red Zone function/button "New" (1 button) as shown below:
That opens a option box containing each file PTC Creo Parametric can model as shown below, and it as discussed before in the article, it shows us the extent/reach/scope of PTC Creo Parametric Software.
As evident, the default option is "Part". This dialog box allows the user to select which domain the user wants to work upon, the following Table 1 will demonstrate each option and its meaning.
So from the above table, we can conclude that PTC Creo has a very wide reach, in domains such as:

- Civil Engineering- Layouts, Drawings,etc.
- Mechanical Engineering - Parts, Drawings,Assemblies ,Process Plans, NC Programming, Sheet Metal, etc.
- Analysis (To be covered) - Static and Dynamic analysis of Mechanisms(Assembly), Volume of Part, Weight of Part, etc.
- Casting Industry- Mould Making, Metal Casting analysis, Creo Cast (Different Software)
- Service Industry (After Manufacturing) - External Simplified Rep., Configurable Module and Product, Harness,etc.
- Plumbing works (to be covered)
- Electronics - ECAD
- Manufacturing Advanced - CMM, NC. Expert Machinist, Sheet Metal (CNC)
- And any other field or domain, where parts or assemblies are used (3D Modelling itself as part of Creo Parametric, allows it to be usable in any other domain as specified)
In PTC Creo, while naming your files, spaces are invalid so it is a good practice to use under-line (_)
instead of spaces, and it is my personal recommendation to also use dates in the filenames because PTC Creo does not allow you to use one filename for two different files.
