Cad Softwares

CAD which means Computer Aided Design is the latest in a development in a line of products in Design Industry.

A CAD software is a computer program which allows user to Design new components and/or assemblies, or to Draft from existing design.

CAD software's have revolutionized how a design engineer works, and made possible to not only view, but analyse, record and Interpret data such of any component or assembly even before the said product has been manufactured!

A CAD software uses a graphics engine to render pixels on the screen with help of various algorithms for primitive shapes such as lines, circles, cube, cone, etc.

Some Noticeable CAD software packages include:
  • AutoCAD
  • Image result for autodesk autocad
  • PTC Creo

  • SoldWorks
    Image result for solidWorks
  • and many more.

While most of these software's are paid, there are Student Versions also available for free. A point to note for the student version is that any component you will make in Student Version of these software's will not be compatible with any paid version of the same software.

The following PIE chart sourced form here, shown various CAD companies and their marketshares. So, from this we can say that in the CAD software market, as of now Autodesk has the lead, with Siemens at second and PTC following at third.
